How Will You Advocate for Female Coworkers in the New Year?

As the accusations of sexual harassment sprung up across the board in 2018, the issue has become somewhat of a hot topic, especially in the workplace. So what happens if you actually like someone you work with and would like to meet up with them outside of the workplace? Generally speaking, I would advise against this as it’s a tricky situation in almost every scenario. While having a one night stand or brief romance might be fine outside of the office, in the workplace it requires a great deal of emotional maturity and responsibility to ensure that you don’t bring your feelings to work everyday – which is really challenging even for the best of us. The falling in love part usually isn’t the challenge, it’s breaking up that tends to make things difficult – could you imagine working with your ex everyday? That can be stressful. The other issue is that your advances may not be taken the right way and could land you in a heap of trouble. If you are interested in having a one on one meeting with a coworker, you should handle the situation with as little passion as possible – at least at first. Try and keep things platonic and friendly at first – rather hint at your intentions or let the relationship grow slowly over time. Jumping to conclusions could cost you your job or your reputation.

So it’s best to be professional both in the office and outside the office until you know where you stand on the matter. When it comes to dealing with sexual harassment in the workplace, it’s imperative that you report anything that may seem out of the ordinary to your superiors – whether it’s happening to you or a fellow colleague. Often, victims of abuse don’t tend to talk out about their situation for fear of losing their job or because they’re ashamed about admitting what’s happening to them. If you let sexual harassment prevail while knowing that it’s actively happening in your office, you’re almost as guilty as the person committing the act. So be bold and stand up for those who are being victimized – karma will take your side eventually. When it comes to advocating the rights of your fellow female employees, it’s important for you to be sure that you aren’t patronizing someone. Always speak to someone first about how x or y made them feel and whether they would like assistance rather than simply being bravado – you may have totally misunderstood a situation. Sometimes even being a voice of reason or empathy can be enough. While it may be unprofessional to get involved with a colleagues personal life, if you notice that someone seems unnaturally sad or simply ‘isn’t themselves’, a kind word and the reassurance that you’re there for them can really help build a sense of trust and understanding. The best way to ensure that your workplace is geared towards the rights of women is to prevent sexual harassment in the workplace, keep a steady channel open between employees and HR or management so that any issues can reported in private and dealt with professionally. Finally, be sure to keep macho culture outside of the workplace and have regular meetings explaining the rules of intimacy amongst colleagues in the workplace as well as defining what sexual harassment is – as you’d be surprised just how many people actually have no clue what that term really means.

The biggest mistakes to avoid when going keto

The keto diet seems to be one of the most effective diets for weight loss, but is it too good to be true? The answer is no, it’s not too good to be true – it really works. The only issue is that it’s a very strict diet which means you have to follow the instructions to the ‘T’ for it to work correctly.

There are a number of things that people commonly tend to get wrong when it comes to using the Keto diet, and hopefully I can shed some light on these issues and how to fix them or stop them from happening again. The first big problem that a lot of people make when choosing this diet is that they think they can do it alone.

Nothing could be further from the truth – at least in the first few months into the diet.  It’s best to get the advice of a professional dietician so that you can make the right choices for your body and get the best results out of the diet. Even joining a local keto-group is great – just something that you can use as a reference for your progress during the diet.

Then, a lot of people tend to overdo it on the protein when using this diet. While protein is a crucial element within this diet, having too much in your daily intake can have a negative effect on your body’s ability to reach ketosis. This is because the excess protein forms glucose, which helps to give your body energy and will ultimately slow down your body’s ability to burn fat.

Another common problem with people following the diet is that they tend to eat too much of the wrong fats. Eating fat on a diet is the exact opposite of what we’ve been brought up to understand about weight loss, but it is precisely this that helps to kick-start our body’s fat-burning processes that ultimately help you lose all that weight.

The answer is to stick to healthy saturated and monounsaturated fats such as the kind found in animal fat, coconut oil, butter, fish oil and olive oil rather than any other vegetable oils (corn, vegetable, safflower, canola), margarine and vegetable shortening. It’s also very important to stick to whole foods – that’s what keto is all about. Eating too many processed foods (whether keto friendly or not) can only have negative effects on your health over time and cause weight gain over time.

Finally, it’s important to note that the keto diet is more than just a diet, it’s a way of life. You can’t simply stop the diet once you’re happy with the results and go back to eating like you used to. You have to stick with it for a long time and even if you start eating other foods, make sure that they’re whole foods and healthy! You don’t want to undo all that effort by going back to processed and unhealthy foods.

These are some of the more common problems that affect users of the keto-diet. The best advice I would give you is to stay in touch with someone who has found success through the diet or a licensed dietitian for the first few months of your diet to ensure that you don’t make any mistakes and to ensure that you stick to the correct eating plan.

Crazy Stupid Love

If you haven’t seen the movie, crazy stupid love, you’re missing out. It stars Emma Stone, Ryan Gosling, and Steve Carrell. It’s a romantic comedy to the max. You really fall in love with the relationships in the movie and then cannot stop laughing. It’s just too good. It’s a movie you can watch whenever you want, whatever your mood is.

Heres the storyline. There’s this couple and the movie starts out with the wife asking the husband for a divorce. The reasoning behind it was because the wife had an affair. It is really sad to watch. We don’t know anything about this couple yet besides that they’re married and have children. We don’t know if a divorce is the right move for them as a couple. We are just hurt that anyone would want to divorce Steve Carrell.

They were on their way back from a date when the wife dropped the affair bomb. Steve Carrell literally jumped out of the moving car. I don’t know why the wife was driving, but I guess it was to get that awesome scene and awesome reaction that one would have when finding out their spouse cheated on them. Their son was at home with the babysitter who he’s in love with. But hear this the babysitter is in love with the father. What a love triangle or trapezoid. I can’t figure it out.

So the couple separates and the dad has to move out. He frequents this bar every night and meets this guy, Ryan Gosling, who is the always the man of the hour. He takes home a new woman every night and just has a way with words. Steve Carrel is alone every night sipping on a drink when one day Ryan Gosling comes over to him and offers him help with his set of skills.

Ryan Gosling takes Steve shopping for a new wardrobe and teaches him how to talk with a woman. He becomes the man of all hours. He brings home a new woman every night. He’s loving life but truly just trying to make the best out of a very bad situation. Anyway, Ryan eventually meets a woman who is more than just a one night stand. Emma stone just broke up with her boyfriend because she thought he would propose but he ended up just offering her a job. SO she wanted to go wild and sleep with a random stranger. Well lucky her that random stranger was Ryan Gosling.

Anyway long story short, they fall in love and  Emma stone wants to bring Ryan home to meet the fam and guess what? Emmas parents are the couple that just got divorced, and when Steve saw Ryan he was so mad. He told Emma that she can’t date this guy because he’s an animal. Which he was. But his ways have changed since meeting Emma. It’s just an amazing scene of all stories coming together. Emma and Ryan continued to date without talking to Steve.

There is a lot more where this came from right here

Stephen Kings “IT”

You know those movies that you have a certain memory of as a kid? Perhaps you thought they were really good, really interesting, really amusing, or just plain awesome? There is a case for letting them stay that way. I recently watched several childhood/early teen films, and I was disappointed to find that they didn’t live up to the hype and promise which was going on in my head. Isn’t that a shame? I should have left well enough alone, instead of wanting to rekindle old and nostalgic flames. There was one movie in particular, called Homegrown, which I remembered to be a lot funnier and happier than it actually was. Now, it is a movie which revolves are weed and smokers, so it may be safe to assume I simply associated the weed scenes with the awesomeness of the movie. I began watching it the other day, and I could not get through the half of it. Now, to be clear, there isn’t something inherently wrong with the film. It is just that it didn’t manage to deliver, on many counts. I guess I thought it would be different, because I remembered it differently. This is exactly why sometimes you should leave things where they are – in the past. Another thing about that movie is that it is 20 or so years old, and while that isn’t exactly old in cinema years, it is still old enough to have a very different pace to it. There is the stoner angle, yeah, but it is primarily a “who dunnit?” movie, where a character is killed in the opening scene, and the rest of the film is spent smoking herb and trying to make head and tails of the whole business. Like I said, I couldn’t get through it, because I wasn’t expecting a murder mystery. It isn’t how I remembered it. And even if it IS a murder mystery, the pacing was a tad too slow for my current taste, even if teenage me was into it.

The same thing happened to me with the TV movie version of Stephen King’s IT. I remembered it scared the bejesus out of me as a kid, and now it simply looks laughable. Tim Curry as an evil, child-eating monster? I mean, come one…

Speaking of which, the 2018 full-length feature IT is one which I still haven’t seen. No spoilers, now. I will see it soon enough.

Tea Tree Oil

Are you serious? You want me to put potentially-harmful chemicals, harsh detergents, artificial flavors and scents, and lord knows what else on my scalp and hair? And you want me to do this to myself, every day? AND you want me to pay for it? Wow. That is a pretty sweet deal, and it’s on sale!

This is basically what we are saying, every day that we use ordinary commercial shampoos and conditioners. This is a very broad statement, I am aware, but it is still true. Not every commercial shampoo is harmful, and not every natural product is 100% awesome. There are many blurred lines and gray areas. No doubt.

However, I personally found a formula which works for me. It involves coconut milk, water, and essential oils, sometimes shea butter thrown in there as well, for good measure. This is my shampoo. Based on tea tree oil primarily. A tea tree oil shampoo is great, and I found that the major commercial ones don’t give me as good of a scrub as my own concoction. That may change. My hair and scalp – chances are yours, too! – change with the weather, with age, with using different products. The body is a dynamic and ever-changing thing, though it may not appear that way.

The things you can do with essential oils are many and varied. From cleaning your scalp to keeping bugs out of the house. From opening your sinuses to helping your digestion. They can do it all.

So, once every couple of weeks I shampoo and condition my hair. I let the hair and scalp do whatever it is they want during the down time, and my body has had plenty of time to adjust. And it does! Unless the weather is particularly bad, or I do something which requires me to clean and wash my hair right afterwards, the body and hair have time to secrete and absorb the body’s own oil, the sebum.

This is basically all I need for my hair and scalp, and the shampoo and conditioner simply keep things in check. This is another reason why a DIY shampoo such as that comes in handy.

Tea tree oil shampoo isn’t a new thing. There are many commercial ones outy there, and some of them are really good. You don’t have to get hung up on DIY, especially if you found a commercial formula which works for you. Don’t force it. Go with your gut.

Being able to say no to the myth that we need to wash our hair every day is very liberating. Most of us are not letting the scalp do its thing, eventually becoming highly dependent on the various products which are always around us. Is this a good thing? I think not. You need to use products sometimes, but more than that, you need to let your body do what it is meant to do. Otherwise, it could become stagnant and lifeless, and the formula will replace the body’s natural processes. Not my cup of tea.

Berries Are Best!

Acai berries are not something we can all grow. Just giving an example. I know there are a lot of people out there who are mad at companies putting spins on things and advocating sham health trends.

Yes, there is a lot of dishonesty in the world of business. I’ll give you that. But on the other hand, there is also a lot of good will and kindness. There are plenty of moral, honest, loving business owners out there, who want to see themselves make money, yes, but who also care about their customers, and genuinely want them to lead better, healthier, and more natural lives.

This isn’t news, you know. The business world is one of shady deals, back alley transactions, and the quest for money. When you look at the wellness and health industry, sure there is some of that. You can’t escape it. But, I know for a fact there are some good ones out there. And some of those good ones want you to be able to harness the power of acai berries, goji berries, and other natural fruit loops in order to better yourself. It is that simple.

Are they looking to make money? Obviously, but not at all costs. And that is where it breaks down for me. What a person will do or won’t do, for money. So, the next time you see someone bashing a company for propagating a useless or needless health supplement, remember that not all health and nature companies are created equally. Also, remember that clinical studies have their place, but they, too, are not without faults, agendas, and politics.

Acai berries are some of the best things I know of, for myself. I use them semi-daily – whether in pill of frozen form – and I love what it does for my system. Now, sure, you could always chalk it up to some placebo effect, but you know what? First off, I don’t think it is a placebo, and second – what if it is? So what? It is a delicious berry, which I am taking into my system after going for a 5K run, along with some other fruits, some almond milk, and a touch of mocha ice cream. Even if we grant the proposition, and say that the acai berries in there are purely a placebo – I just don’t care. It helps to get me up and moving, and that is what counts, as far as I am concerned.

Maple Holistics is the best place to go for all reviews and articles on all of your favorite products:

So, if you find that a certain health fad or craze is helping you out, pay absolutely no attention to the naysayers. Eventually, they don’t matter. If it is something which helps you, and which you can afford, continue doing it. If you are getting healthier, stronger, more aligned – it doesn’t matter what anyone says. It really doesn’t.

People will always find something to complain about. Also, keep in mind that the FDA does have its place, and its importance, that does not mean that it holds all of the world’s knowledge.

Shotguns And Rifles With Gunivore

There is nothing like the breeze flowing through your hair as you drive along the highway in your hatchback on your way to the mountains for some good ol’ camping. I have been doing this camping trip all the time and it has been classy and fun for me and everyone else who need a break. I call it the self-sufficient camping trip. I come with fishing pole and gun to be able to go out and catch and hunt whatever I need to eat for that week. I bring the essentials just in case I find myself without protein but for the past couple of years I have been fairly successful with my rifle and shotgun.

The place I go is at a fairly high altitude and situated by a slow moving river where salmon and other fish comes to spawn so I bring the fishing rod so that I can catch some fresh fish. In the previous years I have caught my share of fish, so big and some small but all tasty. Same with the shotgun, I have shot myself some smaller animals because shooting a deer or something large like that would be a major waste for one guy like me. I remember the first time I shot myself a small rabbit. I felt like an ancient naïve American hunting out in the woods for his keep. I had watched videos on line about how to gut and prepare rabbits and animals like that. The first time I field stripped rabbit it was not a pretty scene but I have gotten way better at it. Practice folks. Now I am a butchering machine which sounds strange to say but it is true.My ritual when I first arrive at the spot is to dive into the river and take in that fresh mountain water. It’s cold and refreshing especially after being in the car all day. I used to come up with a bunch of people but soon realized that I would get the most out of it if I just went up alone. It is a time for quiet and meditation. I bring up my journal and thoughts and really make the most out of the solitude. Being able to feed myself is one of the more rewarding things I have achieved. I would like to get into fermenting but haven’t gotten the chance quite yet.
So far with all my shotgun and fishing expertise I have never had to deal with larger dangerous animals. There are said to be bears and other predators up in these hill but thankfully I have yet to come across these guys. If I ever did I would be ready because I have read everything about guns on Gunivore.com. This has prepared me for whatever has come my way so far. I hope to make these camping trips a lifelong thing but I will have to wait and see. A life is a long time, friends. For now I will camp.

The Keys To Showering

This is a story about hair, long beautiful hair that I wanted to help be the best it could. Shampoo and conditioner are the best things in the world but the debate rages on as to which is the supreme ruler of hairdo. The answer quite frankly is difficult to pin point and one that has raged on for centuries. Hair care is key to a life with a head full of hair. I found after years of research that the best stuff is the natural stuff. I am talking about natural hair care and shampoos that contain no chemicals or parabens. These can cause various side effects and the only side effect I want is beautiful long straight not frizzy hair. Let’s get started on this adventure to see what hair tips I have for everyone. The journey to great hair is simple and one that anyone can take with a little elbow grease and organic shampoo.

Showering is key to not smelling and staying fresh. When I shower I like to take my time, soak it in and really enjoy the experience. The thing is I have learnt that hot showers and hot water in general can have negative effects on your skin and hair. While it feels soothing it actually is drying out your skin and hair and stripping it of healthy sebum oil. What I have learnt to do is take colder showers or at least turn it cold for the last 8 minutes while I wash my hair. Trust me it makes your pores tighter which in turn means they have a better grip on your hair and so make stronger locks and shiner hair. I have shampooed and conditioner in cold showers for over a month and I can say that it really does do the trick for my hair. It also tends to wake you up. Nothing like a cold shower in the morning to put a little pep in your step, believe me.

Next when you get out of the shower don’t dry your hair with anything. Hair dryers will dry your hair fast but leave it damaged and sometimes burnt. When you air dry you create a head of hair that is stronger and better looking. I myself sit in front of a fan to dry my hair. Although this seems dumb it really works and I have done it every time I have gotten out of the shower for as long as that. I also use purple shampoo in the shower because I have blond hair and blond hair can change its tone slightly depending on the sun. When it gets darker a purple shampoo will brighten it up and leave it a lighter blond. Purple shampoo (as reviewed by Maple Holistics) is pretty popular so you can find it almost anywhere if you just look for it. It can get pretty expensive so you should really pinpoint what it is you need it for because it works for all hair types. From grey to gold.

Glock 19

The Glock 19 compact 9mm handgun has only 35 parts . This is one of its main advantages. With such a small amount of parts involved, there is less chance that thing could malfunction. For this reason, Austrian authorities went with the Glock 17 (the 19’s full size older brother) as their official carrying pistol, back in 1980. It was the first Glock, and it made quite an impression on Europe, and later the U.S.

Glock handguns are made of steel and polymer, and are considered some of the best, safest, and most accurate handguns around. The name Glock is recognized by people who have never held a firearm in their life, which should give you an idea of just how popular this company is. It is a part of pop culture, and it continues to produce and market new handguns in various calibers. The different models and generations are still being imrpoved on. Glock are looking for perfection. It is no wonder that “perfection” is their slogan.

And do you want to know something truly amazing? Gaston Glock himself, the founder, is still around and still making headlines.

So, how does the Glock 19 shoot? In a word, great. There isn’t a lot of recoil, and the recoil that exists is manageable enough to get some good follow-up shots. For my hand, the 19 is a great fit, but it never hurts to put a grip sleeve on there, for times when it might be too cold, too hot, too wet, etc. We all react differently in emergency situations, and some people have trouble getting a grip on their weapon, which is where a sleeve is a great help.

The standard magazine has 15 rounds, but the Glock 19 has to ability to fire higher capacity mags. Some people get the Glock for concealment purposes, and when you insert a 17- or 33-round magazine it could potentially compromise the concealability. If that is not a prime concern, and you want more power firepower, a 17 round magazine may also help with your grip.

Glock handguns are great right out of the box, and the 19 is no exception. The first modification which is recommended, however, is to replace the sights. The stock sights are good, but tritium or fiber-optic ones are more versatile. If you plan on carrying at night, or if you are using the Glock 19 Gen 4 (Reviewed by Gunivore.com) as a home-defense weapon, consider either adding night sights or a laser/flashlight to your gun. There are some really great designs out there, which attach themselves seemlessly to the Glock’s frame.

Glock accessories are everywhere, because Glock handguns are immensely popular. They are used by military, police department, government agencies, civilian security forces, and everyday carriers.

If the Glock 19 is not your cup of scotch, and you are looking for something full-sized in a 9mm caliber, the Glock 17 is your best bet. It has a higher standard capacity of 17 rounds, which is plenty of firepower. The 9mm bullet is tough, and Glock handguns are a perfect match for it.

I hope you enjoyed my blog:
